High School Musical

On Saturday the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation sponsored the annual dinner dance for young adults with Down syndrome. It was held at East High School, where the original High School Musical movie was filmed. It was packed with 150 youth with Down syndrome and their friends from a student ward at the University of Utah. The evening was filled with four hours of fun: tours, cheerleading drills taught by current East High cheerleaders, tips on shooting baskets from the current East High basketball players, dinner, games, a DJ, and DANCING.

And finally, the High School Musical poster and full sized stand up posters of stars from the movie. Posters, prizes, calendars, t-shirts, pom poms, mini basketballs, and decorations were given away after the dance to lots of deserving kids who had a great evening.

Grandma's Easter Egg Hunt

Time for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year we were happy to have Joseph and Stephanie and their three boys join us.

Ian and Larsen were excited to get started!

Marci wanted to hold the new baby, Aidan Stewart Johnson, grandchild #13!

All the kids wanted a turn pushing the super duper pumper egg dying machine!

It was a big hit with Megan, Celest, Kate, and Ethan too.

Falishia was the last one to find her six eggs. Dad had to help!

We had a great evening and were so glad to have Eric, Tina, Megan, Ethan, and Aidan here for the first time to celebrate Grandma's annual Easter egg hunt. Come again next year, everyone!!

Disney on Ice

Marci loves Disney on Ice. This year we invited Jill and Kate to go with us. Here is a picture of Marci and Kate on TRAX enroute to the performance. They are so exicted!

We always get front row seats. Here is one of the seven dwarfs posing right in front of us.

Sleeping Beauty saw Kate and waved at her during the finale, but she didn't stop so we could get a good picture. So we clicked this picture of Sleeping Beauty with Kate at one of the booths.

Marci wanted a picture with Cinderella, but we couldn't find a booth with Cinderella's picture. Marci decided Jasmine was the next best princess.

Ariel stopped right in front of us. This is a great shot of her.

Brrrrrr

Wow, we've had a snowstorm every other day for the past couple of weeks. One day we had sixteen inches!! We keep busy snowblowing and shoveling and now we don't have anywhere else to pile it.

Larry got a nice Nikon camera and had to try it. He went to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon to snap some nature shots. Can you see the mountain goat in the center of the picture? Now he wants a telephoto lens!!

The mounds of snow are as tall as the dumpsters. I tried to drive over a big snow pile that was dumped in my driveway by the UDOT snowplow. I though I cold gun it and get over it. Well, the back tires made it, but then I was high centered and couldn't move until two nice guys pushed me back into my driveway. I guess I didn't want to go anywhere after all!!

Announcing Aidan Johnson with his big sister and big brother. They are so excited to have a baby brother. And mom and dad are glad that all went well and he's finally here! Grandma and Grandpa now have 6 grandsons and 7 granddaughters!

Aidan is glad to be with his family too, even though he has a "not to sure" expression. He's probably thinking, "What just happened," and "Where am I?" I predict a smile will soon replace that furrowed brow!

Christmas in Georgia

Marci quickly found her stack of books to sort. She should be a librarian.

Kevin gave us a private concern on his Dad's old trombone.

Grandpa loved the the pencil holder Andrea made for him, but he liked the hug even more.

Marci liked the PINK vest and hat. This gift warranted a big hug for Elena.

Elena loved the scarf Marci gave her. Marci made the scarf on a knitting maching.

Elizabeth warmed up to Grandpa really fast. Playing with Grandpa was a preferred activity for all the kids.

Elena likes to go to Petland and play with the puppies. It's the next best thing to actually having her own dog, which I understand won't be too soon.

Love the snow

Don't you just love the snow? We got slammed with a foot of snow, so I made this snowman. I don't remember the last time I did that! The next day I really felt it - sore muscles!! But it was worth it. Larry donated the cowboy hat from a Jeremy Ranch Shootout and Marci donated the scarf. The eyes were walnuts from our tree, the nose was a carrot, and the arms were limbs cut off our lilac trees. Cute, huh?

This is Kael, my three year old nephew who came to play in the snow with me. He used this branch as antlers and ran around the yard pretending to be a deer. His favorite thing to do was to use his antlers to knock snow off the branches of our big pine tree. We both got covered with "snow showers." Oh yeah, he loved helping build the snowman!!
